ABOUT US

A Little Background

Here's just a short description of our Location and History

Corpus Christi-Holy Rosary School is located about 30 miles north of Midtown Manhattan in the working-class village of Port Chester, New York. It is part of the Town of Rye and Westchester County and borders Connecticut making it very convenient and advantageous for Connecticut parents who work in the city to have their children attend CCHRS and receive a quality education.
At its opening in 1959 it was a “dream come true” for Fr. Peter Rinaldi, SDB, pastor of Corpus Christi Church. He believed in the power of Catholic education and its ability to complete a parish family setting. His interest in the life of the school knew no bounds as he was seen to walk the hallways daily, interacting with all as a true father. He was known to seek  out ways to support the academics and programs as the school grew. To this day his fatherly manner has left gracious memories in the minds and hearts of those who knew him.
From the very first day the school opened, it has been the Salesian Sisters, also known as the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, who have served in the school with their distinct charism of joy, youthfulness and practical application of the Catholic faith. They have turned out generations of youth who attribute much of their success to the type of education they received, with not a few seeing that their own children receive the same, hence a "Tradition of Success".
In the midst of various forms of merges and re-dimensioning in the area, Corpus Christi-Holy Rosary School has remained an unwavering center imbued with the Salesian tradition of St. John Bosco and St. Mary Mazzarello. Although advanced in teaching techniques and technology, education goes beyond the classroom; the very walls speak of faith and the children are able to enjoy their childhood in a safe, fun and loving environment. Each boy and girl is known by name as faculty and staff seek to develop the students intellectually, socially, physically, morally and spiritually.
CCHRS offers a tradition that has withstood the test of time, guaranteeing quality academic and spiritual formation for the young as well as a place where families of all cultures can feel welcome for decades to come.
